As an artist, Andreas understands the importance of perspective and inspiration. As a member of a family renowned for its reputation as fine art collectors, he also understands the importance of sharing both with others. The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art opened In January 2010, making the collection Andreas Bechtler and his family spent nearly 70 years building accessible to all.

A native of Switzerland, Andreas long ago adopted Charlotte as his home. In addition to being an accomplished artist and collector of art, he is also an entrepreneur, musician, and founder of the Little Italy Peninsula Arts Center in Mt. Holly, North Carolina.

The Bechtler family started their collection with the belief that art should be accessible to all. Today that collection is nationally recognized and housed in a building as remarkable as the art within its walls. The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, located at the Levine Center for the Arts, serves notice to the city and the nation of Charlotte's rising prominence.
